THE EXPERIENCE
The ABM Radio School is the Australian finishing school for radio professionals. Got your degree and don’t
know how to get into the industry? Got lots of talent and want to shortcut the degree? We can offer you
advanced training and guaranteed real commercial experience in the industry at our digital studios based in
Bondi. Working on community radio is great experience and a lot of stations around Sydney may put you
on air after a long wait. Prospective employers however know that community radio, despite all the best
intentions in the world, just does not come up to the professional standards of commercial radio and that
very often experience on it can sometimes even encourage or develop very bad habits that make you
completely unemployable in commercial radio.
THE TRAINING
ABM is a commercial network which means the time you spend attending our training school goes on your
resume as time spent on-air in the commercial radio sector. The training course runs over a six month period
combining face to face teaching, personal mentoring, a structured training syllabus and extensive time on air.
Commercial Radio revolves around a disciplined approach to a consistent product, so the ABM Radio School
is not for everyone. We accept a limited number of enrollments via audition during each 6 month period and
you will be working among our various Stations’ regular professional announcers. You will be working under
commercial conditions: State of the art studio on-air Assist, Play listed Music, Commercial inventory.
