Radio is the most personal of all media. Radio’s intimacy offers the advertiser the chance to speak to the listener on a one to-one basis and the result is a personal relationship between station and listener. This is in contrast to television, which is more of a distant medium, often consumed in a group setting where people react collectively to the content...

Internet Radio Is The Smart Media Of Choice In The City

You do know that nobody listens to FM radio in the major cities anymore right? More and More people are listening to radio using the internet then ever before.

TV viewing has dropped by 6% in the last 5 years, with 16-39 years olds abandoning it in droves. On the other hand Internet use by 14-25 year olds doubled from 18 per cent in 2002 to 36 per cent in 2007.

· 89.3 per cent own a computer

· 98.6 per cent own a mobile phone

· 98.5 per cent use the internet regularly

This is no surprise as in the major overseas Markets traditional radio is losing market share in leaps and bounds also.

Australian Metropolitan FM radio has always countered these facts by saying that they have a massive market share in people listening in their cars!

Where is the AM/FM Switch on this very latest moderate price unit?! (if there is one its usually hidden away somewhere!). City people may listen to the radio on long trips in the car, not around the city—they have mp3 players for that, on long trips the CD’s wear thin and statistically most motorists take a speculative spin around the radio dial. So when a city FM station tells you people listen to their station when their driving, their only telling you half the truth—yes they do, but its only on the long road trips that the old FM radio gets a look in.
